Assoc. Prof. Dr. Handan Özcan is an academician specializing in women's health and diseases nursing. Born in Kars in 1982, she completed her undergraduate education in 2003 at Atatürk University, School of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing. She received her master's degree in Microbiology in 2009 and her doctorate in Women's Health and Diseases Nursing in 2016. In 2021, she earned the title of Associate Professor in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing. Özcan began her professional career in 2003 at Atatürk University Yakutiye Research Hospital and Kağızman State Hospital, where she worked as a diabetes education nurse, infection control nurse, and emergency and ward supervisor. She continued her academic career at Gümüşhane University in 2008, where she worked as a lecturer and faculty member for approximately 9.5 years. Since 2018, she has been continuing her academic work at the University of Health Sciences. Throughout her academic career, she has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Paramedicine, Medical Laboratory Techniques, Nursing, Child Development, Audiology, and Midwifery programs; and has conducted research in the fields of women's health, reproductive health, infertility, endometriosis, menopause, pelvic floor health, perinatal period, and complementary health practices. Having participated in numerous national and international scientific events, Özcan has published many articles in journals indexed in international databases, authored and edited numerous books and book chapters, and presented numerous scientific papers. She has served as a project leader and researcher in projects carried out under the European Union, COST, TÜBİTAK, and other national and international support programs. She has collaborated with National Education Directorates, public education centers, units affiliated with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, municipalities, youth centers, non-governmental organizations, and the Ministry of Health on various social and health-based projects and organized training programs. Özcan is actively involved in national and international scientific networks in the fields of women's health, reproductive health, infertility, pelvic floor health, and endometriosis. She is a member of the Women's Health Nursing Association, the Reproductive Health and Infertility Nursing Association, the Turkish Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Association, the Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Association, the Turkish Reproductive Health and Infertility Foundation (TSRM), the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the World Endometriosis Society (WES), and also serves on the boards of various professional associations.
