Midwife Nesibe Üzel completed her midwifery training at Kocaeli Health Vocational High School and fulfilled her compulsory service between 1989 and 1993 at the Central Primary Healthcare Center and the Maternal and Child Health and Family Planning (MCHFP) Center in Batman, Türkiye. In 2008, she graduated from the Midwifery Undergraduate Program at Ankara University Faculty of Health Sciences. She subsequently completed her Master’s degree (with thesis) in Lifelong Learning and Adult Education at the Institute of Educational Sciences, Ankara University, which she began in 2010.

Throughout her education and field experience, she has focused on preventive maternal and child health services, including antenatal follow-up of low-risk pregnancies, postpartum care, reproductive health services, screening and immunization programs, as well as training and implementation within national programs on Adolescent Health (AOB) and Prevention of Domestic Violence.

Between 2008 and 2018, Nesibe Üzel served within the Ministry of Health of Türkiye in various institutions, including the Director of School of Public Health (Hıfzıssıhha Mektebi Müdürlüğü), the General Directorate of Health Research, and held positions as the USES unit head, adult education specialist, and project manager within the General Directorate of Health Services.

She received specialized training from the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ILO), including “Monitoring and Control of Health Programmes and Projects” and “Evaluation of Health Projects and Programmes.” She has contributed to numerous initiatives and scientific committees focused on health system strengthening.

She has delivered lectures as a guest instructor at Ankara University Faculty of Health Sciences and has participated in scientific studies with colleagues. She has been involved in national and international projects and represented Türkiye in various delegations, particularly in the fields of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum midwifery practices, midwifery legislation, and professional competencies. Her special interests include midwifery practice, health education, and distance learning. She has taken active roles in professional organizations such as the Anatolian Midwives Association and the Natural Birth Association, contributing to projects related to education, regulatory development, and international integration.

Following her retirement at the end of 2018, Nesibe Üzel has continued her work in non-governmental organizations and has been providing consultancy services in training and project development within the private sector. She also continues to work on book translations and project development in her field of expertise.
